In view of large construction and building activity in the State of Himachal Pradesh and to fulfill the desires of thousands of students who wish to pursue their career in Architecture, the Government of Himachal Pradesh has started School of Architecture to impart Bachelor of Architecture (Five Year Degree Course) with an intake of 40 students at Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Engineering College Kangra at Nagrota Bagwan, Himachal Pradesh from the academic session 2017-2018. Bachelor of Architecture (B. Architecture) is one of the best professional courses emerging nowadays. It is considered one of the essential disciplines indispensable in city development and urbanization of a State. It prepares students for professional practice in the field of Architecture. Being an undergraduate program, it has a broad scope, providing exposure to a variety of interests in this field and assisting students to discover their own directions for further development. In general, architecture aims at building cities, roads, homes, hospitals, and other city landmarks as well as site and area planning. It also helps in adding artistic, philosophical and psychological dimensions to buildings. Architecture is the formal expression of social, political, cultural, economic and environmental forces that shape a society. In addition to the production of buildings, the architecture includes the development of ideas about the built environment. This profession provides the highest quality of education and develops responsible, educated, professional architects who shall be able to create a better world through unique and effective architectural ideas and solutions.
It’s my eternal pleasure to welcome blissfully all the students and their parents to the School of Architecture at Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Engineering College Kangra at Nagrota Bagwan. This is the first and only State Govt. College imparting B. Architecture since the academic year 2017. It is approved by the Council of Architecture, (COA) New Delhi and dedicated entirely to teaching and training of 40 students per year in Architecture. In order to meet the new age demands, the institute is continuously upgrading the facilities and infrastructure especially the laboratories, boasts some of the finest equipment available in the profession of architecture.
Our vision is to provide cutting-edge architecture training to our students to facilitate their overall growth and development so that they become proficient architects on whom we can feel proud. We shall strive to improve public infrastructure through excellence in the practice and training of architecture.
The faculty boasts of highly qualified and experienced teachers and the School of Architecture has a very conducive academic environment. Adequate emphasis is laid on the development of an overall personality of the students for which co-curricular and extracurricular activities are held from time to time in the Institution. Our students are continuously gaining recognition in various facets of the profession and are making their family, institution, and society proud.
