Training & Placement Cell (T&P Cell)

About T & P Cell

The role of Training & Placement Cell is to provide students with a conducive environment and a platform for using their potential and skills to gain valuable training by either working on joint collaborative projects of institute with industry, or to gain real hand-on experience of working in industry during summer vacations, or to achieve fruitful insights into various modern tools used by industry by demonstrations and training sessions at the institute or industry as per convenience. The cell acts as a “nodal point” of interface between human resource departments of various companies and talented young graduates possessing worthwhile skills and knowledge.

The Training and Placement Cell consists of faculty members drawn from various departments, with student coordinators for creation of efficient interface between industries related to different engineering areas, and students looking for appropriate opportunities.

The T&P cell is well equipped with requisite infrastructure in terms of dedicated area required as Conference cum Pre-Placement Talk Hall, Group Discussion Room, Interview Room, Testing Computer Lab. for online and offline tests, and modern facilities for Presentations, etc. The cell is also in process to set-up a dedicated video conference facility inside T&P cell, as many companies express inability to come for interviews to this place.

About Training

The T&P cell of the institute has been arranging trainings for students in industries for 6 weeks at the end of 6th Semester, and is currently in talks with various industries for dedicated 4-months training in 8th Semester, and collaborative projects in 7th semester. The training schedule is as per syllabus prescribed by H.P. Technical University, Hamirpur, H.P. (India) for overall skill and knowledge development of students. Presently the students had chance to get training in some of reputed companies in India - e.g. National Thermal Power Corporation, Honda Pvt. Ltd., Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd., Tata Motors, TISCO Jamshedpur, Tata Cummins, Mathura Refinery- Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., HPPCL, Maruti Udyog Ltd., L&T, Havells, DRDO, CSIO, TCIL-IT, Siemens, Reliance Group, HCL, Samsung, LG, EICHE,Volkswagen, Usha Martin, Sandhar Technologies, etc.

Industry-Institute-Interaction Cell

The institute has been stepping-up all energies, and putting whole hearted endeavors in inviting the reputed organizations including MNCs to the College for campus recruitment. To achieve its goal, the Training & Placement Cell is working towards recognizing the core competencies, knowledge level and skill set of particular students.

An Industry Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC) programme has been started under TEQIP-III, which could act as nodal point for arranging collaborative activities like visits, expert lectures, meetings related to syllabus revision and feedback, training needs of students, and ultimately for better placement opportunities in sectors across the industries. The IIIC is being activated for inviting valuable suggestions from members of industry regarding designing/changing of curriculum. The college is in process of signing MoUs with many industrial organizations, government Public Sector Undertakings, industry bodies like FICCI, CII, and industrial chambers. Technical paper presentation contests have also been planned in future, in collaboration with industries to bring latest innovations, technologies, developments and trends.

Expert Lectures
In addition to the above-mentioned activities, the T&P cell has been continuously arranging expert lectures from persons of academic and industrial repute, from senior managers from industries for the benefit of students and faculty of the Institute. Recently, the T&P cell has also arranged expert lecture session with recently qualified Indian Civil Services (ICS) aspirant - who finally joined Indian Forest Services (IFS). The conference halls are packed during such informative sessions, as they give real-time insight into making of a successful aspirant. The T&P cell is always looking for conducting of collaborative courses, workshops and seminars for the benefit of students - to make them aware of latest in the engineering sector as well as to develop a healthy and positive attitude towards life.
