About the Department

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering established in the year 2013 has its core strength in the area of Electronics as well as Communication technology. The cutting edge research areas include Communication Technology, Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, Sensor networks, Optical Communication, Image Processing, and VLSI design. The department is supported by the center of excellence under “Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU)” sponsored by “Texas Instruments India University Program(TIIUP)”. The academic programs have an optimum minimum of Electronics, Communication, Electrical, and Computer Engineering and adherence to strict quality norms in teaching and evaluation has always been the strength of the department. Students are enabled to be socially conscious and technologically skilled so as to contribute towards socially relevant technical problems of contemporary India. Our students work shouldered to shoulder with faculty, tackle global challenges, pursue fundamental questions and translate ideas into action.

It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Engineering College Kangra at NagrotaBagwan. The primary focus of our Department is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem-solving skills, and innovation of new technologies. Electronics and Communication Engineering Department offers a large number of electives and open elective courses for providing a wide spectrum of options to the students to pursue their interests. The course contents are periodically updated by Himachal Pradesh Technical University for introducing new scientific and technological developments. We have good facilities to support our academic programs.

Program Educational Objectives

    • PEO 1. Graduates will acquire in-depth knowledge of core areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering field so that they can fit themselves in industry and pursue higher education.

    • PEO 2. Graduates will acquire the ethical and value based education so that they should function effectively in the multi-disciplinary groups.

    • PEO 3. Graduates will develop an approach in lifelong learning by applying and adapting new ideas and technologies as their field emerges.

Program Outcomes

    • PO 1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

    • PO 2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

    • PO 3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

    • PO 4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

    • PO 5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

    • PO 6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

    • PO 7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

    • PO 8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
